Project Description
On inspection it was discovered that five flat roofs were beyond their serviceable lives. Core investigations and moisture probe analysis revealed build ups to be saturated to the deck. Very little falls had been designed with the original construction and the Georgain wired rooflights that populated the roofs were fragile, posing a danger to anyone needing to access the roofs for maintenance purposes Ponding water was also a persistent problem, which only increased the issues with the failed roofing system.
Solution
The IKO Mach one system was installed, incorporating a tapered insulation scheme to drain water correctly from the roofs via existing internal drainage. All fragile rooflights were replaced with IKO Superlites offering a non – fragile classification from the British Research Establishment.

Installation
The project initially started when students were still at school and wascompleted on time and to budget (September 2015) in a 10 week programme. More impressive considering the disruption produced by some indifferent weather during the installation dates. It was important to complete this project on time due to safety aspects and the Academys education programme. Faithful & Gould received weekly interim reports until the final sign off report and the issue of the insurance backed guarantee was given.
