Tanking membranes are structural waterproofing barriers applied to the external walls and the floor slabs of a structure to prevent the entry of water and harmful substances from the surrounding area. These can be applied at ground level, below ground level (hydrostatic pressure), and on sloping sites.

Tanking membranes fall under type A of structural waterproofing solutions, as recognised by BS 8102:2022.

Structural waterproofing

IKO structural waterproofing solutions are designed to offer damp proof performance for buildings with earth retaining walls, ground floors, and adjacent walls above the ground.

They also deal with water ingress below ground level in order to achieve a watertight environment. This can all be accomplished with our damp proof course (DPC) products, damp proof membranes (DPM), and tanking membranes.

Key benefits to your project

  • Decreased water absorption.
  • Prevents the formation of cracks in concrete and corrosion of reinforcements.
  • Increases the lifetime of solid construction and reduces maintenance costs.
  • Prevents dampness within the building and seepages from the walls or ceilings.
  • Promotes a healthy environment overall.
Tanking membranes

IKO Hyload Tanking Gastite SA

  • Cost-effective, one-layer application.
  • Can also be used as a gas-resistant DPM (radon and methane).
  • Puncture and impact resistance.
Tanking membranes

IKO Hyload Tanking Membrane 1500SA

  • Robust and durable – the product’s combination of polymer modified bitumen on a polyethylene carrier makes it a tough and durable material choice.
  • Ease of use – the product is cold applied and does not use specialist tanking equipment, making it a cost effective, low labour application.
  • Multi-purpose – the product has multiple uses within the damp proofing and structural waterproofing arena.
