Coety Primary School, Bridgend – IKO Armourplan SM

Project description

Working with Central Cladding, IKO Polymeric completed the 800m2 single ply roofing project for Coety Primary School in Bridgend. The durable waterproofing solution offered by IKO Polymeric contributed to the building’s high BREEAM requirements.

The new ‘community’ school is a two form entry with 420 primary places and 30 nursery places procured under the SEWSCAP Framework. Located on a sloping site in the heart of a new community, the school has a ‘plaza ’entrance embracing its environmental philosophies. Playing fields, with changing rooms situated inside the school, will be accessed by the community outside of school hours.

With an extra room for 330 pupils, the new school is more than twice the size of the old one which only catered for 134 pupils. It has an interior colour scheme of primary and pastel colours. With solar panels and natural ventilation, it is leading the way in being sustainable and energy efficient.

The building has an indicative “excellent” BREEAM rating, making it potentially one of the most environmentally-friendly schools in the county, if not the whole of Wales.

IKO Polymeric’s aesthetic, weathertight and durable waterproofing solution IKO Armourplan SM single ply membrane in mid grey was specified for the roofing project to achieve the high BREEAM requirements of the new building.

The installation by Central Cladding, matched Bridgend County Borough Councils expectations and has provided the school with a roofing waterproofing system that is covered by a year single point guarantee.
