Roof from IKO Polymeric for Lithuania’s first IKEA

From July 2012, YIT Kausta, Lithuanian subsidiary of YIT Construction, commenced the construction of an IKEA store in Vilnius – the first ever to be built in Lithuania.

The land plot is located in the vicinity of Vilnius airport. The value of the contract is over 15 million euros, and the project is due to be completed by Autumn 2013.

UAB ‘FELIT’, which operates IKEA franchise in Lithuania, chose the construction company through a tender process.

IKO Polymeric’s partner and distributor for the project, Vario Kalvis Ltd based in Kunas, supplied 25,000m2 of IKO Polymeric’s IKO Armourplan SM150 Mid Grey which was installed to the main roofing area, with ‘Welcome to IKEA’ spelt out in Armourplan SM150 Slate Grey lettering.

Armourplan SM membranes are a polyester scrim reinforced membrane for mechanically fastened roofing systems. The membrane is mechanically fastened in the overlap using IKOfix Stress Plates and IKOfix Screws. Armourplan SM is also used as the upstand detailing membrane on all Armourplan systems.

It is available in either 1.2mm or 1.5mm thicknesses, and comes in two standard colours; mid grey (RAL 7046) and slate grey (RAL 7015).
