Tanglewood, Cambridge – IKO Armourplan Single Ply Roofing System
Project description
Leeds based VIDA Architects worked on an astonishing private dwelling project with UK’s only single ply membrane manufacturer IKO Polymeric and the roofing contractor RCC Cambridge.
The main challenge of the project was to come up with a design that is aesthetically appealing whilst also providing a viable waterproofing solution.
Solution and installation
After careful considerations between VIDA Architects and the client, a pitched roof design was chosen incorporating single ply PVC membranes as the main waterproofing element and timber cladding panels giving the roof an astonishing look.
IKO Polymeric’s Armourplan PSG PVC membrane was used beneath the timber cladding panels which provided RCC Roofing with the ease of installation due its excellent flexibility.
A Nicholson IFP system was also used to ensure there were no fixings penetrating the membrane. IKO Armourplan PSG membrane has excellent UV and puncture resistance which makes the membrane more durable and makes it ideal for projects requiring extended guarantees.
