BRISTOL BEACON WINS 2026 RIBA SOUTH WEST & WESSEX BUILDING OF THE YEAR
Bristol Beacon is an iconic concert venue, education hub and historic Grade II listed building. Work began to restore the structure to meet current standards for acoustics and accessibility, while preserving its incredible Byzantine Revival architecture.
IKO Permatec LI inverted hot melt roofing and waterproofing systems were applied to flat roof areas to create a durable and protective barrier. Other roof applications on this project featured IKO cold applied liquid solutions.
The project won a RIBA South West & Wessex Award 2026 and was named RIBA South West & Wessex Building of the Year 2026.

PURDOWN VIEW WINS 2026 RIBA SOUTH WEST & WESSEX AWARD
UWE Bristol’s Purdown View is a low-carbon student housing scheme built to foster sustainability and a sense of community. UWE made the decision to upgrade the building to achieve Passivhaus certification as part of its commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030. As a result, the new Purdown View will reduce energy use by 81% and carbon by 79% per room.
IKO Permatec LI inverted hot melt roofing and waterproofing systems were utilised for the main roof areas. Delivering a 50%+ reduction in embodied carbon, IKO Permatec LI supported the project’s net zero commitments.
The build also features IKO Armourplan PSG single ply roofing and waterproofing systems, alongside an IKO enertherm GOLD tapered insulation scheme, on the housing roofs and the smaller link roof.

11 & 12 WELLINGTON PLACE WINS RIBA YORKSHIRE AWARD 2026
Buildings 11 and 12 are recent additions to Wellington Place, an emerging business district in central Leeds. Inspired by the site’s industrial and railway heritage, the bronze-clad structures of 11 and 12 have been thoughtfully designed to appear ‘cast in place ’, with careful consideration given to layout, height and shape.
The project’s energy-efficient, fabric-first design features an IKO Permatec LI inverted hot melt roofing and waterproofing system on flat roof areas.
11 & 12 Wellington Place and architects TP Bennett won a RIBA Yorkshire Award 2026.
