Here’s a closer look at the systems and products making a difference on UK housing projects today:

IKO Permatec LI

IKO Permatec LI is a trusted waterproofing system that combines durability with carbon-conscious formulation. Applied hot and fully bonded, it creates a seamless membrane that helps protect buildings from water ingress for the long term.

IKO Spectraplan

The only thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) membrane manufactured in the UK, IKO Spectraplan offers UV resistance and durability. Its installation process can be up to 50% quicker than traditional single ply systems, helping to reduce time on site and minimise project disruptions.

IKO Armourplan

IKO Armourplan is a premium PVC membrane engineered for reliable, long-term protection in residential roofing. Reinforced for strength and flexibility, it withstands environmental exposure and occasional maintenance foot traffic with ease.

IKO enertherm GOLD

IKO enertherm GOLD is a lightweight yet robust insulation board that enhances the thermal efficiency of residential buildings. It helps reduce heating and cooling costs while resisting moisture and mould, delivering strong thermal performance compliant with efficiency regulations.

Versatile, lightweight and easy to handle on-site, IKO enertherm GOLD has a high compressive strength of 175kpa and is approved by the BBA (Certificate No. 15/5283).

Cold applied liquids

The IKO cold applied liquid waterproofing range provides the perfect solution for applications with complex detailing requirements. IKO cold applied liquid systems offer a fully bonded waterproofing application, meaning no flow paths for water to track.

The fast application of our cold applied liquid systems means they are ideal for seamless waterproofing of flat roofs with many complicated details and penetrations. This includes IKO metatech (BBA Certificate 24/7115).

Stay compliant with confidence: How IKO aligns with the Building Safety Act

The Building Safety Act 2022 ushered in significant regulatory changes for roofing contractors and, this year, new obligations around building registration and financial accountability are coming into force.

What’s changing in 2025?

Building registration for 11-18 metre buildings: The Government plans to extend mandatory registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to residential buildings between 11 and 18 metres in height. Roofing professionals working on these projects will need to ensure that all materials and installations meet compliance standards, as greater scrutiny will be placed on safety, documentation and contractor competence.

Introduction of the Building Safety Levy: From Autumn 2025, developers will be required to contribute financially to the Building Safety Fund through a new levy. While targeted at developers, this change may affect project budgets, bids and timelines.

IKO: Your partner in building safety compliance

Whether you’re specifying materials, managing installations or overseeing residential projects, IKO can make it easier to meet the demands of today’s building safety regulations.

Here’s how we help keep you aligned with the Act:

Golden thread documentation: Detailed product data, certification and installation guidance – all readily available to support traceability and transparency across every project stage. Supporting files can be provided to aid coordinated design and meet regulatory requirements. Our Technical Teams and Field Engineers are also on hand to offer project-specific advice through the design process.

All IKO installations are carried out by approved contractors, giving project teams confidence in qualified, accredited workmanship.

Regulatory-ready systems and industry insight: All IKO systems are developed in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and BES 6001 accredited facilities, with product performance rigorously tested and certified to meet key industry standards – from BBA approvals to Broof(t4) classifications.
