Cold weather flexibility
SBS elastomeric bitumen coating provides flexibility down to –15°C (–20°C for IKO Roofgarden). While such extremes are uncommon in the UK, this low-temperature performance supports reliable installation in colder conditions, provided ambient temperatures remain above 5°C.
Long-term system guarantees
IKO bitumen waterproofing systems come with comprehensive guarantees that cover materials, design, and installation, providing clear assurance of long-term performance and protection. Every system is BBA-certified, with a service life of over 30 years.
Certified fire performance
Systems available are classified BROOF(t4) in accordance with BS EN 13501 5:2005 fire classification. This enables unrestricted use within Part B4 of the Approved Documents of the Building Regulations (tested under ENV1187). This is based on specific system build-up testing, so please contact IKO for further clarification or refer to the product BBA certificate, where applicable. The systems also feature Prevent™ graphite-based fire-retardant technology that expands under heat to protect roof integrity.

IKO Carrara: Air care technology
Building on our commitment to sustainable innovation, IKO Carrara bitumen waterproofing represents a major step forward in the environmental performance of bitumen roofing.
At the heart of the system is an advanced ecological membrane, finished with a special coating of titanium dioxide (TiO₂). Activated by UV exposure, this technology helps purify the air by breaking down harmful nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) and sulphur oxides (SOₓ) into neutral, harmless compounds, a process known as photocatalysis.
But environmental performance doesn’t stop on the roof.
