At IKO, we are proud to celebrate a year of industry recognition, with three of our projects recognised across specialist roofing, waterproofing and construction awards.
These award-winning projects demonstrate the breadth of our technical support, system capability and collaboration with contractors across commercial, retail, hospitality and science-led developments.
At NETPark Durham, our IKO Armourplan P mechanically fixed single ply membrane roofing system was specified across nine new buildings as part of the £50 million expansion of County Durham’s North East Technology Park. The project was named Best New Build Award Winner at the SPRA Awards 2025.
Covering 14,000m² of roofing across a complex 26-acre sloping site, the scheme required a solution that could support demanding technical requirements, ambitious U-value targets and solar PV integration. Our field engineers carried out weekly site visits and technical checks, helping support specification compliance and installation quality throughout the programme.
We were also pleased to see the Dakota Hotel, Newcastle project recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to Sustainability Award at the Construction News Specialists Awards 2025. Working with BriggsAmasco, we supplied IKO Permatec LI hot melt waterproofing and an IKO Elements sedum blanket green roof system for the hotel’s new annex.
The specification included 261m² of IKO Permatec LI, paired with IKO enertherm XPS insulation and a 45m² green roof. Early engagement and specification-led decision-making helped align the roofing package with the project’s technical and sustainability objectives.
Our IKO Permapark system was also used at Sainsbury’s West Wickham Car Park, which was named Car Decks and Paving Project of the Year at MAC 2025. The live retail project required a long-term waterproofing solution for an upper deck affected by cracking and water ingress, while keeping the store and car park operational during the works.
Working with Black Rock Asphalt and KSD Group, we supported the installation of a two-layer IKO Permapark system, including a 10mm waterproofing layer and 30mm paving layer. The project was delivered on time, with the car park remaining open to the public throughout the programme.
